Social Media Bait

When morality doesn’t matter; clicks do.

I saw a lot of people fall for Chamath's obvious bait on Twitter (won't link to it). Influencers post outrageous bait to get engagement & build audience, be it YT, IG, TikTok or whatever. This creates divide & animosity between groups of people who are susceptible to this kind of thing. Fishing for followers, these influencers do more damage than good. Obviously nefarious state actors also engage in the same tactic to spread propaganda & damage stable societies. Info war is ongoing & most people don't even know they are being attacked. Other way I'd put it: these people are low life scum who should be ousted from any sane society. The nihilistic, cynical world view of, “morality doesn’t matter; clicks do” is evil.
